11 September – William Joseph Burns, director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has met with Pakistani Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Lt. Gen. Faiz Hamid, director-general of the ISI (Inter-Service Intelligence).
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest, regional security situation, and the current situation in Afghanistan were discussed.
During the talks, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to assist international partners in ensuring peace in the country and a stable and prosperous future for the Afghan people.
CIA Director Burns pledged to play his part in a successful evacuation of the situation in Afghanistan, efforts for regional stability, and a further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
